A vibrant array of “LODE” masterpieces has been brought together at the Daugavpils Technical and Industrial Design Centre “Inženieru Arsenāls“. Handmade SENCIS bricks, firebricks and chimney bricks, as well as construction bricks, have all contributed to the revival of the Daugavpils Fortress, which now hosts the largest retro machinery exhibition in Latgale.

The Daugavpils Fortress structure is one of the longest historical buildings in Latgale at 230 metres. It was constructed from 1840 to 1844, and is the last building designed by architect Aleksandrs Štauberts.

In 2019, extensive restoration work commenced on the building, aiming to unveil a unique cultural space by May 2023 blending technology and design. In March of the same year, the building became one of the winners of the “Latvian Construction Annual Award 2022” and received the “Grand Prix” as the best structure of 2022 in Latvia.

We are truly delighted that unique historical structures in Latvia are not only being revived but also shining with even greater magnificence. We are also doubly pleased that locally-produced construction materials, made from Latvian clay, are being used in their restoration.
