The rolled out red carpet at the entrance to the Latvian National Opera and Ballet is a finely and carefully crafted duet of clinker bricks KALAHARI and JANKA.They have earned their place in the Opera House forecourt thanks to their high qualities: natural, durable, and colorfast. It is also highly resistant to stress and wear, which was particularly important in the summer of 2021, when the environmental and cultural space “White Square” (Baltais laukums) was created in front of the Opera House. During this project, structures used in various productions were brought out from the Opera House, creating an outdoor space where people could gather, be inspired, and share creative ideas at a time when the Opera House could not welcome guests indoors.
