The building of the Faculty of Radio and Television at the University of Silesia in Katowice was recognized as the world’s most beautiful building in 2019 at the \u201cWienerberger Brick Award\u201d competition. Its design was developed by combining the expertise of three outstanding architectural offices from Katowice, Warsaw, and Barcelona. Clinker bricks were used throughout the building’s construction. They are found both inside the building\u2014in walls, floors, and the terrace\u2014and on the fa\u00e7ade. The construction employed perforated finishing bricks called RUSTIKA, which have an irregular surface with many metallic burnouts. Solid finishing bricks CLASSIC were also used, characterized by chipped edges, fine cracks, and an uneven surface. The external fa\u00e7ade was made from hundreds of unique, custom-designed perforated bricks, which were named “televisions” in honor of the Faculty of Radio and Television.<\/p>\n\n

The brick texture creates a unique atmosphere and illumination in the university’s interior. The light flowing through ceramic blocks, resembling television screens, produces various light effects at various times of the day, projecting square reflections onto adjacent buildings. Students, future filmmakers, or photographers, should experience the emotion vibrations created by the intense light in study spaces, inspiring them and developing their sensitivity.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Clinker bricks were manufactured at the “Patoka” factory in Poland, owned by “LODE GROUP”.<\/p>\n\n
