Coming Soon – the Acoustic Block!

JSC “LODE” is developing a new and considerably improved ceramic construction block – the ACOUSTIC block with increased sound isolation and fire resistance characteristics – that will be soon offered to our customers.

The Planned ACOUSTIC Block’s Parameters:

Width – 250 mm
Length – 300 mm
Height – 238 mm
The sound isolation index – R’w 55 dB
Weight of the block– 20,5 kg
Compressive strength – 20 N/mm2
Coefficient for thermal conductivity – 0,46 W/mk
Volume mass – 1150 kg/m3
The production technology – extruder: German company “Braun”, the technological equipment: German company “LINGL”, and clay from Āne deposit in Lielupe basin.
Planned production time – mid June, 2010

How Does it Differ from Other Blocks?

Compared to other KERATERM blocks, the ACOUSTIC block will contain less “holes” and therefore it will have higher volume mass, higher density and it will be heavier. Therefore in addition to increased index of sound isolation it will obtain a higher compressive strength (20 N/mm2) and a higher degree of fire resistance (REI Index – 240 min.).

For example, in majority of cases when constructing a wall of 25 centimeters thick KERATERM block, it corresponds to the sound isolation requirements. But there is a need of additional layer of construction if there are increased requirements for sound isolation due to definite functions of the building or area.  There are situations when a fireproof wall has to be built in order to separate socially significant buildings and there is a requirement for additional sound isolation there. For example, the disco hall has to be separated from cinema and both those areas are located in one and the same entertainment center.

Laying of the ACOUSTIC Block

The mortar will be applied only to the horizontal surface of the ACOUSTIC block at the same time precisely connecting its vertical surfaces equipped with rectangular molded cavities. After laying a row of ACOUSTIC blocks, the hollow spaces in vertical surfaces will be filled with mortar thus completing the vertical joint. This method will provide a less time consuming and more efficient construction process using the given material if compared to other materials from whitch a wall possessing corresponding sound and fire resistance parameters can be built.
